Udu Technologies, a Nigerian company specializing in GPU cloud and infrastructure, has struck a deal with South Korea's Baro AI to boost the availability of high-performance Graphics Processing Units (GPUs) across Africa. This agreement, inked on Wednesday, September 9, at the Korea-Africa Economic Cooperation (KOAFEC) Ministerial Conference in Seoul, is a strategic move to tackle Africa's pressing shortage of AI computing resources.
Under this deal, UduTech will gain access to Baro AI’s multi-GPU Poseidon servers, thereby expanding the range of hardware options it offers through its AGH Cloud platform. Africa is currently home to less than 1% of the world's data center capacity, and its share of the specialized GPU infrastructure needed for modern AI operations is even smaller.
This inadequate capacity means African governments, corporations, and research bodies are often locked in a struggle for scarce computing resources, which can slow down the continent's ability to scale AI applications. Many African buyers face hardware delivery delays of up to 36 weeks from major global suppliers, such as Dell, HP, and Supermicro, which typically use NVIDIA chips in their servers.
“When African organisations issue Request for Proposal (RFPs) for AI infrastructure, they shouldn’t have to face global chip scarcity and 36-week hardware delays, ” said Alexander Tsado, CEO of Udu Technologies. “Our partnership with Baro AI disrupts this status quo.”
Established in February 2025 by Mr. Tsado, a former engineer at NVIDIA, UduTech is building a distributed GPU infrastructure network. Its mission is to deliver AI computing power and sensitive data closer to users within Africa Africa GPU Hub, which operates in both Nigeria and the United States.
The partnership is poised to provide UduTech with greater adaptability in terms of cost and delivery timelines for its clientele, though the specifics of availability and pricing will depend on GPU type and volume. Baro AI’s Poseidon servers bring deployment possibilities that extend beyond traditional data centers.
These servers incorporate liquid cooling technology and are quieter, making them ideal for settings like banks and telecom firms, where large, noisy data-center equipment could be impractical. Mr. Tsado emphasized that integrating these servers into the AGH Cloud ecosystem allows UduTech to sidestep conventional backlogs.
“By bringing their low-noise, liquid-cooled Poseidon servers into our AGH Cloud ecosystem, we can bypass traditional backlogs and deliver high-performance compute directly to banks, telcos, and governments right when they need it, ” Tsado added.
For Baro AI, the partnership offers a strategic gateway into Africa’s burgeoning AI infrastructure market, a domain largely controlled by well-established international hardware companies. The South Korean firm is keen to extend its reach in Africa as local governments increasingly focus on building up domestic computing capabilities to support AI initiatives.
